RMDA Frequently Asked Questions
I applied for the Remodeling Design Awards, the Big50, and/or the Remodeling 550 in the past. Can I use the same login?
Yes! Please use the same email you used for your last application and click the “forgot password” button if you can’t remember your password. If the person who applied for the last program is no longer with the company, please create a new account.
Will I get emails confirming my registration and submission?
Yes. Please add firstname.lastname@example.org to your safe senders list. If you have not received those emails, please check your spam/junk folder.
My company is outside of the US. Can I submit a project for the awards?
Yes! Companies outside the US, or companies who completed international projects, are eligible for the RMDAs.
How many projects can I enter for the awards?
You can enter as many projects as you want! Just remember you will need to pay a registration fee for each.
Do I have to mail any physical materials?
No. Please upload all materials to remodelingdesignawards.com.
Is my application fee per-project?
Yes. If you decide to submit two projects, for example, you will pay the entry fee twice.
Is there a cut-off date for projects I’m allowed to submit?
Yes. Only projects completed after June 1, 2016 are eligible. Any projects completed before that date will be disqualified immediately.
What does each section of my dashboard mean?
- In Progress - Application(s) you are currently working on
- In Cart - Application(s) that you need to pay for in order to submit
- Complete - Finalized application(s)
- Needs Attention - Application(s) you have not yet started
- Expired - Application(s) that were not submitted before the submission deadline. Expired applications will not be considered for an award
The above categories will appear only if you have an application in that category. For example, if you do not have any expired applications, the EXPIRED section will not appear on your dashboard.
Why do I have two separate entries in my account for the same project?
TThe registration/pay first round and submission materials sections will each appear individually on your dashboard along with that step’s status and submission date. For example, if you have submitted both the resigration and submission materials sections of your application, the COMPLETE section of your dashboard will look like this:
I was registering my project, but the system asked me to pay my fee before I could upload images. Where do I upload images?
You must register and pay your entrance fee before you can upload your project images and description. Once you pay your fee, you will be taken to the rest of your application.
Can I register and pay for my entry fee by the early bird deadline of June 1, 2018, but upload my materials after that date?
Yes! As long as you paid for and registered your project by June 1, you do not need to pay a late fee. You also have until June 15, 2018 to finish your application and submit it.
How do I add more consultants to my project?
Please only list as many consultants as your entry form has space for. If your project wins an award, REMODELING’s staff will ask you for a full list of your consultants for the project.
Can I mention the names of my company, contractors, and consultants in the project description?
No. No identifying information can be included in any part of your application (project name, description, on plans, etc.).
Can I submit a PDF file for my plans?
Can I submit hand-drawn plans?
Yes. However, please make sure to remove your company’s name and/or logo from any plans you submit.
How many total photos can I submit?
You can submit as many photos of your project as the form allows.
Can I submit more than one image of the project in the same file?
No. Please do not combine more than one image in the same JPG file; upload single images only. Our judges want to be able to see your remodels in as much detail as possible
What format should my images be?
All images must be in JPG format with a minimum resolution of 300 DPI. Images cannot exceed 3,000 pixels in length or width.
Do I have to provide exterior shots of my project?
You need only upload exterior shots of your project if you feel they highlight your project. For some projects (such as a basement renovation or a bathroom renovation), exterior shots might not be necessary.
Can I have a refund on my submissions?
We’re sorry, but no. No refunds will be issued. Please be sure to review all eligibility guidelines before submitting a project. If you still aren’t sure whether you qualify, please email email@example.com.
Can I submit my product to the Remodeling Design Awards?
No. Unfortunately, the RMDAs do not accept products as applicants.
When will you announce the winners?
We will announce the RMDA winners in late September or early October. Be sure to follow REMODELING on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and sign up for our newsletter to be the first to know when the winners are announced.
